Minimum Cybersecurity Checklist for Low Risk Vendors
An editable 13-page field guide for the assessment that should not be a full assessment. A local supplier with no system access, no sensitive data and no digital dependency does not need a 30-check review, but someone still has to confirm that picture is accurate and record why. Four gate checks test whether the vendor really belongs in the low-risk lane and say plainly when to stop and use a fuller checklist instead; the rest cover the safeguards that still matter and the trigger that sends the vendor back for reassessment.
What’s inside
- A readiness page confirming the vendor entity, product, environment, region and service in scope, business criticality and data sensitivity, the internal owners who can validate each claim, and how restricted evidence will be handled
- 12 numbered items, LRV-01 to LRV-12, grouped into 2 control domains and classified as they are in the guide: 4 marked Gate, 7 marked Required and 1 marked When Used
- Confirm Low Risk Scope and Minimum Safeguards
- Response, evidence reference, action owner and due date against every item, so the completed form is the assessment record rather than a questionnaire you transcribe later
- A rapid final checklist that restates all 12 items on one page for the closing challenge
The assessment rule is written into the form: evidence should be current, complete for the service in scope, usable by your organization, tested where capability matters, and linked to a decision. A certificate, policy, screenshot or vendor statement is not enough on its own when it does not prove the specific requirement.
