The SAFE One platform integrates with over 100+ tools – meet a software engineer who makes it happen.

by Swarnim

Fresh out of college, armed with equal parts excitement and uncertainty, I stepped into the world of Safe Security as a software engineer. What I didn’t realize then was that I was about to embark on an extraordinary roller-coaster ride. It’s been a journey packed with thrilling twists, steep learning curves, and jaw-dropping moments of growth. This adventure has shaped not just my career but also my perspective as a software developer.

The Early Days: Diving into Safe Security’s Culture

Stepping straight from the lecture halls into the dynamic world of cybersecurity was both exhilarating and intimidating. My first tasks at SAFE involved diving into security assessments for web and mobile applications. While the work was intense, the collaborative culture made it a seamless transition.

🚀 What stood out most? Open communication. Whether it was brainstorming with cross-functional teams or receiving guidance from senior leadership, every voice mattered. This wasn’t just a job—it was a platform where even early-career professionals like me could make an impact.

One of my earliest contributions was to a project to enhance security standards and threat prioritization feeds. Not only did this deepen my understanding of cybersecurity, but it also allowed me to strengthen the platform against evolving threats. Seeing my ideas transform into solutions was the moment I knew I’d found my calling.

Learning and Growing: Taking on Bigger Loops in Platform Development with APIs

As the journey continued, the projects grew more ambitious, and so did my appetite for innovation.

💡 One defining moment? Working on integrating first-generation SaaS tools into the SAFE platform. Using an API-first approach, we streamlined operations, improved system efficiency, and enhanced scalability. The platform wasn’t just growing—it was evolving into a smarter, faster, and more robust ecosystem.

🌐 Then came Project Pi, a true game-changer. By enabling the SAFE platform to integrate with over 100+ tools—from SaaS applications to Cloud providers—we scaled the ecosystem’s detection capabilities, making vulnerability assessments more accurate than ever.

🎉 Another milestone was publishing two SAFE connectors on the ServiceNow Marketplace. This wasn’t just a technical feat; it opened up new avenues for customers to experience SAFE’s solutions, expanding our reach and impact.

Tackling Big Challenges: User Behavior Analytics and More Heart-Stopping Moments

SAFE has always been a place where challenges are seen as opportunities to innovate, and I’ve embraced every one of them.

⚙️ People-As-Entity (PAE) Initiative:
This project wasn’t just about solving data residency issues—it was about rethinking how we analyze threats. By integrating User Behavior Analytics (UBA), we added a user-centric layer to risk assessments, reshaping our approach to cybersecurity.

🛠️ From Single-Tenant to Multi-Tenant:
I worked on the User Invitation Flow and the Tenant Switcher to ensure this transition was seamless for users. The result? A platform that was not only more accessible but also more efficient in serving diverse environments.

📈 Scaling Data Ingestion:
One of the most technically demanding challenges I’ve faced was handling over 50 million signals daily and processing them in under 12 hours. This breakthrough wasn’t just about speed—it was about ensuring SAFE could meet the growing demands of a global user base while supporting complex integrations.

Reflecting on the Journey: The Ride of a Lifetime for a Software Engineer

As I look back, I realize that my time at Safe Security has been so much more than just a career in software engineering —it’s been a journey of discovery, growth, and impact. Each challenge I’ve faced, from foundational projects to complex system upgrades, has been an opportunity to leave my mark and learn something new.

This roller coaster is far from over. The track ahead is filled with new loops, sharper turns, and higher peaks. But one thing’s for sure—I’m ready for whatever’s next, with hands raised and a big smile on my face.

Here’s to the road ahead, to making the digital world safer, and to every thrill that comes with the ride. 🎢
