“What truly sets SAFE apart is its people. Deadlines may be tight, but collaboration and camaraderie never falter”

By Bhavin Agarwal

Campus placements—a nerve-wracking experience for many graduates—were no different for me. But in hindsight, college recruitment turned out to be one of the most fortunate events of my life, as it marked the beginning of my journey at SAFE as a Software Developer in 2019. Having done internships as an iOS developer during college, I never imagined that my career path would lead me to become a full-stack developer.

As developers, we all encounter a pivotal question at some point: Should I specialize in front-end or back-end development? For me, the answer gradually unfolded as I worked on diverse challenges at SAFE—problems that couldn’t be solved by focusing on just the UI or just the APIs.

Deepening My Front-End Expertise

My first major challenge? Helping transition a platform from PHP to React. This wasn’t just about swapping technologies—it was about reshaping how we delivered experiences to users. During this journey, I didn’t just sharpen my React skills; I also guided teammates in embracing the new stack.

Together, with incredible mentorship and collaboration, we revamped the UI into something visually striking, lightning-fast, and adaptable. This wasn’t just a win for the product; it was a turning point for me, solidifying my love for front-end development and setting the stage for my future growth.

Building Oasis: More than a Design System

As SAFE scaled, so did our challenges. One pressing issue stood out—UI inconsistencies across teams. Managing uniformity in a fast-growing environment seemed daunting, but at SAFE, challenges ignite innovation.

The solution? Oasis, our homegrown design system. This wasn’t a solitary effort; it was a masterclass in teamwork. Developers across teams came together, each taking ownership of a small yet vital piece of the system.

The impact of Oasis was profound. It streamlined UI development, reduced repetitive work, and empowered our internal teams. Watching it come to life was a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines SAFE.

Venturing into the Back End: Beyond Comfort Zones

With time, I found myself stepping into uncharted territory—back-end development. A pivotal project was the Outside-In Service, an event-driven system capable of performing domain assessments at scale.

This wasn’t just Back End 101; it was a crash course in building and scaling distributed systems. Balancing performance and reliability while managing millions of assets pushed me to experiment, optimize, and innovate. It was here that I discovered the thrill of back-end challenges and realized I was no longer a front-end specialist—I had grown into a full-stack developer.

SAFE: A Culture of Growth and Innovation

What truly sets SAFE apart is its people. Deadlines may be tight, but collaboration and camaraderie never falter. Over the years, I’ve witnessed not only the company’s remarkable evolution but also my own transformation. From redesigning UIs to architecting distributed systems, my journey at SAFE has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Looking back, I’m immensely proud of how far I’ve come. And looking forward? The horizon is limitless. SAFE has been more than just a workplace—it’s been my launchpad to innovation, growth, and endless possibilities.

Here’s to the journey ahead! 🚀
